Chef James visits
year 3
On
Thursday 14th January, Year 3 had a visit from
Chef James. He came to school and spent the morning
with Year 3. They had lots of fun! They learned
about healthy eating, the different tastes and
about using all our senses to taste food properly.
Chef James played lots of games using food and
the Year 3 children also made some delicious pasta
called. 'Pasta Primavera'. All of the children
were able to take a dish of this pasta home.
Here is the recipe:

115g mange tout- thin strips
100g carrots - matchsticks(julienne)
75g courgette - quadrant shaped slices
75g celery - thin sliced in crescent shape
1 clove garlic
200g crème fraiche
1 tbs grain mustard
Method
1. Prepare the vegetables
into small or thin pieces, (as listed above) so
as when flash fried will cook evenly.
2.
Cook the penne pasta in plenty of lightly salted
water.
3. In a frying pan, put a little olive oil, and
flash fry the vegetables with the garlic. Ensure
you do not overcook the vegetables, keep a little
bite in them.
4. Add a spoon of grain mustard, and then the
crème fraiche, then add the cooked penne.
5. Tumble all together then serve in a dish, topped
with chopped basil or oregano
