Welcome to Year 5

Year 5 are busy this half term starting our new topic of Rivers and The Water Cycle. We will also be starting our new science topic on 'Changing states' this half term and we will be focusing on how solids, liquids and gases change state and how they are linked to the Water Cycle. We will be linking this work to our D.T topic of making rafts. We will be designing our own rafts and making them according to what we learn about materials that float.

Some important events for Year 5 are:

• We will be visited regularly on a Friday by an Alsop teacher, Miss Urquhart, who will help us with our geography topic.
• Children who are going to Kingswood, need to ensure that their total is paid by July 2012.
  
  
  Year 5 teachers would like to encourage children to bring in water bottles and a piece of fruit for snack, if they wish. Book bags should be brought in everyday so children do not miss any opportunities to read to any adult.
