Year 6 visit to the
National Waterways Museum

Year 6 recently went
on a trip to the National Waterways Museum in
Ellesmere Port. Here they enjoyed lots of actvities
that realted to their World War II topic that
they have been covering this term.
On this trip children
had the opportunity to live like they did in the
19th century. They had the opportunity to explore
this through costumes, historic boats, homes and
artefacts. We engaged in sessions that included
looking at rationing, evacuation and looking at
canal boats.
Children had the opportunity
to take part in a practice air raid, looking at
the roles of different people throughout the war.
Children could then take time to look around the
different canal boats and the warehouses.
Children really enjoyed
this trip as it put into action all of the things
we had been looking at this term.
I am sure all of our
chidlren had a fantastic day!
