Welcome to Year 5:

The year 5 team would like to welcome all children back to school and hope everybody has had a great summer! We are really looking forward beginning our new school year and have been busy over the summer planning, preparing the children’s new classrooms and planning some exciting new topics for us to enjoy!

We will begin this half term with our new narrative immersion book, ‘The Egyptian Cinderella’. This book will link with our other subjects including our History topic – ‘How can we rediscover the wonders of Ancient Egypt?’ Children have had the opportunity to set the questions they would like to answer along their learning journey.

Our Science topic is called ‘Can you feel the force?’ This will involve a visit to Walton Hall Park to explore different forces. We will also use our ICT, Art and DT skills to maximise our learning in this topic.

Some important information for Year 5 parents/carers:

  • PE lessons will be on a Thursday afternoon. This term we will be doing an Egyptian dance. Children must remember to bring their PE kits. We will also be taking part in Yoga lessons on a Monday afternoon.
  • Children will be taking part in guitar sessions with Mr Rooney.

Year 5 teachers would like to encourage children to bring in water bottles and a piece of fruit for snack, if they wish. Book bags should be brought in everyday so children do not miss any opportunities to read to an adult. Homework will be given on a Friday and should be returned to school on a Wednesday.

Homework club will take place on a Thursday after school with Mrs Tuzio, while Mr Frazer will be holding a multi-sport club on a Wednesday after school.
