Cookery Club has continued this year and has been a huge success.

They make a mixture of sweet and savoury dishes.

They also make sure to cover some basic skills such as weighing and hygiene for handling food.

‘Yum Yums’ cooking club

The name ‘Yum Yums’ comes from the aprons and caps given to the cooking club by Mrs Sharples before she left, we are getting a lot of use out of them. The cooking club is very popular and has a long waiting list.

The new cooking club has started with a cupcake decorating session. Julie from Bijou Cakes brought in some cupcakes and showed the children how to make Halloween decorated cakes. It was interesting learning how to make a spider from fondant icing and pumpkins with faces. The children really enjoyed it and couldn’t decide on a decoration. We had lots of staff popping in to see how we were getting on in the hope there would be a cake going spare. We hope you enjoy the pictures of some of our future Jamie Oliver’s.

We are looking forward to the sessions where we will make pizzas, cheesecake and other delicious morsels. The last session before Christmas will be to decorate a cake or Yule Log for the festive season. We think the parents are just as excited as the children over their creations.

HAPPY COOKING!
