Welcome to Reception
Welcome back everyone! We hope you had a wonderful break and are ready for an exciting new half term. We have lots of lovely things planned as we move towards the festive season — including watching a pantomime, enjoying our Christmas Fair, and we may even have a surprise nativity to look forward to! It’s going to be a magical few weeks full of fun, learning, and sparkle. ✨
This term in Reception!
Welcome back to school!
We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break and enjoyed some special family time. We are really looking forward to hearing all about the children’s holidays and welcoming everyone back into our routines. The children worked incredibly hard last term and we are very excited for all the learning and fun ahead this term.
In Maths, we will continue to develop our understanding of numbers within 10 through lots of practical, hands-on activities. The children will be composing numbers in different ways and exploring measures such as capacity and weight. We will also be developing our mathematical language, using words such as heavy, light, full, empty and more.
In Literacy, we will continue our daily phonics sessions and support the children in applying their phonic knowledge to both reading and writing. Please continue to use the Dojo app to help consolidate learning at home, where you will find the updated sounds the children are currently working on. Reading at home is incredibly important at this stage and is one of the best ways to support your child’s progress. Sharing books together and enjoying a bedtime story will help your child become a confident reader and develop a love of books.
We will also be encouraging the children to develop their independence when changing into their P.E kits. You can support this at home by encouraging your child to get dressed more independently where possible.

- 🎒 Please bring book bags into school every Thursday
- 📱 Remember to check Dojo and Seesaw regularly for updates
- 🏃 PE takes place every Monday
